About EthioTools
EthioTools provides free tools and resources for Ethiopian language and culture. We make Ethiopian digital tools accessible to everyone, everywhere.
What EthioTools is
EthioTools is a focused set of browser-based utilities for Ethiopian languages, calendars, and everyday calculations used by students, professionals, and the diaspora. The site concentrates on Amharic input, conversion between Ethiopian and Gregorian dates, Geʿez numerals, tax and payroll helpers tied to published Ethiopian law summaries, and light educational games backed by local word lists.
We do not try to replace desktop publishing suites, government portals, or classroom instruction. Instead we document limits on each tool (for example, speech synthesis depends on your device’s voices) so visitors know what to expect before they rely on a result.
Who maintains it and why
Content and calculators are maintained by the EthioTools editorial team. Financial tools reference Federal Income Tax Proclamations 979/2016 and 1395/2025 and Federal Labour Proclamation 1156/2019 in line with widely used payroll practice; fuel prices are synchronized from GlobalPetrolPrices.com tables and time-stamped on each page. When data cannot be refreshed, the site displays a message that the snapshot may be outdated rather than implying it is current.
The project exists because many everyday Ethiopian tasks, such as converting dates on forms, checking phone prefixes, and estimating tax or leave, are still easier with a small, fast page than with generic global apps that lack Ethiopian calendars or Amharic-aware controls. Feedback from users drives which tools get improved next.
